Hello EDU586 Summer 1 Students,
The class registration sheet on the web stated that this course requires you to attend the town meeting on April 17th. That is incorrect. You are NOT required to attend this meeting. Just show up on the first evening of class…no textbook is required for this class.

Our EDU586 class is canceled for Tue, 9 Feb due to bad weather. See the online classroom for more info.

There is no text required for the EDU586 course. Our first class meeting will be Tuesday, 19 Jan in LRC 015.
We will be using the following text for EDU507 and our first class meeting will be on Thursday, 21 Jan in LRC 012:
Koretz, Daniel (2008) Measuring Up: What Educational Testing Really Tells Us. London, England: Harvard University Press
For both classes, nothing is required before the first class meeting…I’ll cover everything else during our first meeting.

Hello EDU586 Students,
The material for online module 9 is now available in the online classroom. Be sure to take a look at it within the next few days. You do have until the end of the course to complete the United Streaming assignments in this module, but don’t put this off until the last minute…get it done early and keep the stress levels low
If you have questions, post to the questions forum in the online classroom.
See you in class.

Hello EDU586 Students,
We will not meet for class this Wed or Thur, the 17th or 18th. Just continue with the online module we are currently doing and next week we will cover the Vodcasting in one class meeting instead of two like is on the schedule. Next week I will post some video to cover more of the advanced features on vodcasting that you can view online and we will cover this online instead of rescheduling a class meeting.
I’m doing this because I’m still stuck in Sarasota waiting on the adoption paperwork to clear so that we can take Victoria (or new daughter) out of the State. We thought it would be done by today (Tuesday), but since Monday was a holiday (and there were a few other fourms to complete), we won’t be able to leave here before Wed or Thur evening.
So, see you in the forums online and in class next week.

Hello EDU586 Students,
We’re still in FL with our new daughter and are hoping to be able to leave soon…there is a lot of paperwork to complete and get approval of the court before we can leave the state with Victoria.
If I can’t get out of here before tomorrow (Tuesday) night, I may need to cancel our class this week, but I will post something to the website and here in the online classroom if I need to do that…I’ll post to all the places I did during the snow days ONLY IF THERE WILL NOT BE CLASS THIS WEEK. If you don’t see anything posted, then just assume we will be having class as normal.
And if I do need to cancel class this week, I’ll post some make-up material online so that it doesn’t require an extra meeting to be added. Sorry about this uncertainty, but this came up out of the blue last week and we needed to get to Florida as fast as we could.

Our Thursday EDU586 class will meet as scheduled. For those in last nights class that was canceled, you may attend class this evening if you wish. If we have more students than computers, we will just finds extra chairs and double up on the computers. Next week we I will go over the make-up plan for the classes we missed due to bad weather.
Note: The online module will NOT start until next week after I have met with both the Wed and Thur classes. Disregard the dates listed in the online classroom…we will adjust everything next week.
