We did not have a weekly meeting today in order to work on our grant continuation process.

Today we discussed the final chapter of Allington’s What Really Matters for Struggling Readers.  We discussed some ideas for truly becoming a school that would provide the best atmosphere for expert teachers to teach.  Just a reminder to email and let me know if you have any ideas for our next set of meetings.

Today we met to discuss chapter 5 of Richard Allington’s What Really Matters for Struggling Readers.  This chapter discussed the importance of thoughtful literacy vs. basic comprehension.  If you need notes that were used during this meeting, please let me know and I will get those to you.

We will not have our weekly meeting today due to my temporary change of position.  We will discuss chapter 4 of What Really Matters for Struggling Readers by Richard Allington next Wednesday.

No Weekly meetings this week due to snow days.  We will be looking at Chapter 3 of What Really Matters to Struggling Readers by Richard Allington next week. 

Today in our weekly teacher meetings we went over quotes from Richard Allington’s What Really Matters for Struggling Readers.  This chapter discussed the amount of time that students should spend each day actually reading instead of doing worksheets, procedural things, etc.

Today in our weekly meetings we discussed information from the South Eastern Regional Reading Recovery Conference.  This included Five Missing Pillars of Scientific Reading Instruction and The Six Ts of Effective Elementary Literacy Instruction.  If you cannot get these links to come up on your computer come to me and I will get you a copy.  For other notes from the conference click here.
